Plug and play in existing plants

It is very easy to integrate the LinKus system to an existing system. No code change is needed inside the PLC, neither any new code blocks are required. The only thing to do is to provide 24 Volt and an Ethernet cable to the LinKus system and then it is hooked up. In case the system demands further customizations, we can easily extend / alter data points (PLC variable addresses) via the LinKus-Portal.

The captured data is stored in a relational database.

  1. Option #1: Storing the data locally on the LinKus device onto a Database-Server
  2. Option #2: Storing the data remotely in the LinKus Cloud onto a Database-Server
Both Portals (local and remote) be subject to a user login, that unauthorized have no access to the recorded data.

Out of our experience over the years, we found out that many operators have problems to indicate the data they are looking for in HMI / SCADA systems. Understanding of the tagging expressions, as FIC01, are for Joe Bloggs more difficult to understand as reading a full text expression as “Throughput”, especially for this reason, we put the option into our LinKus system to have a “Display name” of variables. Also you can use this option for language translation, i.e. showing data in Spanish or French.

Visual management of the system structure

The integral parts of a plant can be visually manages from the web cockpit of LinKus system. Simple on-screen drag and drop will also let our database know that the system parts are being updated and the same relationship also reflects in the subsequent process data capture and affect the analytics.

Thus it becomes simple and highly cost effective to keep vital system statistics at the tip of one's finger around the clock especially with the help of our cloud platform which is also being updated in real time. If the target system needs our LinKus system to have some graphical changes, our expert techies do that too so that the visualization matches the exact structure of the system.

In another words sitting in front of the LinKus application makes you feel that you are controlling the whole plant with your PC / hand-held devices.

Advantages of LinKus

Storing the data on a LinKus system instead of doing it in a CSV File (so called flat file) gives you the following advantages:

  1. THE SIZE: of the stored data is smaller than in a flat file. Compared to 3MB flat file, which holds 21600 data points, the database is capable to store 26785 data points. This is calculated with higher precision as in a flat file, for floating point values. We have still the possibility to reduce the precision grade and this will store even more data points.
  2. DATA SECURITY: is catchphrase nowadays and gets more important from day to day. In a flat file, data manipulation is very easy and hard to discover, because you can open it with Text Editors and change its content. That looks different, when you use a LinKus system with database. We can log any change of data and have a traceability what was changed and manipulated and from whom.
  3. DATA ACCESS AND ANALYZABILITY: CSV files can be opened by EXCEL, but as larger the file gets the performance of the computer must be higher, because EXCEL is working in ASCII format instead of working with binaries. The LinKus system has this method to analyze the recorded data points, where you query your data with SQL and it’s showing in every common browser, i.e. Chrome or Edge.
  4. BACKUP SIMPLICITY:During capturing data, the amount of files you create increases by time. After a certain timeit will be very unhandy to handle and manage this amount of files to find data you are looking for.In our LinKus system, we have a central place, the DB Server, where the data points get stored. And this is easy to manage and to find. To prevent backing up duplicate data, because you have to check which files you have already saved, it’s a greater benefitto backup the database from the LinKus system, where you can store redundant into another DB-Server (Synchronized data) or having all information in one backup file.
  5. RE-VISUALIZED DATAStoring of the data is one task which is fulfilled by our LinKus system. Additional the LinKus offers you the possibility to watch the captured data and filtering by i.e. Batch – No, From Time, to Time as well as User defined filters.
